Books are finished now and shipped. To be honest, I am still pleasantly surprised by this project and all the time working on books I was suspecting it wasn’t a real project. But it is. Two books in clamshell boxes. Both are about 11 x 11 x 1.5 in.

The Levi’s Anthology/Mobile Novella – Book Project Brief
Young women around the world today are transcending expectations that society imposes on them. They’re shaping what’s to come for themselves and the world around them in unique and unexpected ways. But, it’s not always easy – especially when you’re on your own, trying to navigate your own path in a non-linear way and discovering who you are truly meant to be.

For many women, success has been inspired or guided by other people – mentors, coaches, heroes, ideas and circumstances that led them on their journey to being happy, fulfilled and sometimes feeling absolutely fabulous about what they’re doing in the world – making a difference and achieving a dream. Daring to be themselves.
The project seeks to capture the essence of what has shaped young women, what’s relevant to them in 2010, and what advice they would have for other young women trying to shape their own worlds.

So, we’re looking for the comfy palette on which the journeys of young women will be crafted in words, illustrations, photos and mixed media. Each hand-crafted book will be adored and adorned by eight women in US, UK and Japan.

PRIME, book of shoes

Books and hats aside. Inspired by old favorites and newly found cooking blogs, I am surrounding myself with cookbooks for the evening and marking every dish I want to try. I also need to clean out my pantry before moving next week. I will post some pictures if dishes turn out, or if I remember to take a photo before it disappears.

This sketchbook is 4×6.5 in. There are 48 pages of Mohawk superfine paper. I left the spine exposed so you can see the binding which is double raised cords with sewn endbands. The cords are laced into bulap-covered book board. The journal has a twine cord that can be wrapped around to keep the book closed. Available at http://www.etsy.com/shop/minusplusminus

Just finished making a book for B.E.S.T. book swap. This sketchbook is 6×4x1.25in. Text block is handmade paper from various recycled materials (flax fiber, beaten jeans, newspaper etc.) Book is sewn on raised double cords and has sewn endbands. Cords were laced into wood covers. Book is covered in burlap and has embroidered decoration. Leather clasp keeps it shut and stable.

I hope this books serves well to its future owner.
